This year, XITTE VAN ’T PAULUSHOF a female born out of a Belgian sire and dam, became DOG OF THE YEAR VDH 2001, (Dutch Champion).

This result is the benefit of the breeder P. Vanstraelen. And the Dutch owners/handlers J. Louer and A. Vrijbloed.

At the moment Jan Louer set for the first time his eyes on Xitte, although she was a young bitch, he realised instantly “this Belgian Bitch has potentials”. He talked about it with other Dutch breeders but they were not interested (now they are realising how foolish they were). Jan found a partner in Mr. Vrijbloed. Together they bought Xitte from the Belgium breeder P. Vanstraelen. They could start the building up of a top-showcarreer. From unknown to world fame.

Xitte was born 26th August 1998 in the Belgium village Kuringen. She was over a year of age when A. Louer and A Vrijbloed bought her form P. Vanstraelen. November Xitte was enterd in the Dutch kennelregister: NHSB (Imp. Belgium). In every buy there are risks involved. But from the beginning it was obvious: “this is a winner”. But between dreams and reality there are oceans of differences…

Xitte stayed with Jan Louer in Rotterdam Together with his wife the training both work and show started. A big part in this played the Dutch Ortsgruppe Westland and many other instructors and helpers both in the Netherlands and Belgium. They are involved in the successes!

And Xitte was and is winning. From the age of 6 months she was 23 times a winner. And 12 times V1 in the Gebrauchshundklasse under many different judges as: Humberdross, Bauer, Euscher, Anderson, Boonemmer, Nizet, Thijs, Mignolet and Thibaut.

2001 a Top-year for Xitte.

In the preparations for the German Hauptzuchtschau it went extremely well for Xitte. She was winning at a lot of shows and was in perfect shape. Also very good results on big Sonderschauen (local) and Landesgruppenschauen (States) in Germany. The Belgium Siegerschau with courage test brought her the title Belgium Vorzüglich Auslese 3 awarded by the French Judge Renaud.

The highlight was her achievement at the Dutch Siegerschau where the previous German S.V. breed warden Helmut Buss was judging. In a very strong field Xitte became Vice-Hollandsiegerin.

Jan Louer: "I also have a strong believe in the right food for a dog. My results are also based on Pedigree Pal. I also give the dogs "Sanafor Veendrenkstof". This contains many minerals and vitamines which have a positive total health and fitness effect also on skin and coat".

The hopes where high for the German Siegerschau. Based on the achievements of Xitte in the preparations to the German Siegerschau a place between the first twenty excellents was realistic. But Xitte was loosing her hair and in a bad shape she entered the main ring in the Dusseldorfer-stadion. The courage test went very well (thank you instructors and helpers in Belgium and Holland): “ausgeprägt” for Xitte. Though Xitte was called out in the best group, the place she started was not what was expected concerning her achievements in the preparations.

Though Xitte was called out in the best group, the place she started was not what was expected concerning her achievements in the preparations. Though she won several places the Vorzüglich 37 was a disappointment. Because bitches she had beaten, notable when breed warden Schweikert was judging, were in the first twenty excellent-group.

The last months in the 2001 season brought new results. The Spanish Siegerschau with couragetest was stunning. The field was very competitive. Again Vorzüglich Auslese 5 awarded by the Spanish Judge Rafael Arenillas Anton. Xitte obtained the first place for her excellent courage test.

In Holland the season ended with the title Winster 2001 given by Dutch Judge Anja Boonemmer. Later on it was clear: Xitte was called out in the Netherlands as “VDH Dog of the Year 2001”.

2002 The road continues:

Xitte became mother of her first litter and for several months it was not possible to show her. Although it was decided to enter her for the F.C.I. Dogworldwinnershow Amsterdam 2002. At that moment it was not certain if Xitte would be ready in time for this worldshow. Meanwhile Xitte got a new owner.

She was bought by Elisabeth Hyatt from Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. This new owner decided that Xitte stayed with Jan Louer in Rotterdam to be trained in the Netherlands. The instructions were clear: keep on winning! The day of the world show arrived. But Xitte was not in an optimal show condition. Would it be too risky?

Without any doubt the Dutch Supervisor Breed affairs of the Dutch SV Peter van Oirschot called out Xitte van ‘t Paulushof on the first place and awarded her “worldwinner bitch FCI 2002 GSD”

With this victory Gitte obtained also the definite title “Dutch Champion”. At this moment there are still coming from all over the world congratulations. Mission accomplished: “From unknown to world fame”.
